17-40mm and the 430exII
Saturday, April 18, 2009
Early in the season, Mency takes an ally-hoop pass from Duncan (Bob Cousy award nominee) and slams it home. I thought it might be cool to splice the shots together, the action along with the expression on Duncan's face makes for a fantastic shot! Tuesday, April 7, 2009
11pm Dawn
I apologize for the delay, but here's the next picture I'm putting up. As you can see by the title this was taken at 11pm at night with a shutter speed of around 75 seconds. For those of you familiar with Arlington, this is the swing set at Skyline park. The bright light in the background is coming from Boston which if I was further up the hill on the left you could easily see.Monday, March 2, 2009
Depth of Field + Emotion = A Real Skinner
I struggled really hard to decide on what picture should have the privilege of going up here first. I found this one fitting for a few reasons.
The man who really got me into photography is Ian Thomas and I owe a lot of what I have learned to him. It was winter break a little over a year ago and Ian called me up and asked if I wanted to shoot the BC-Kansas basketball game with him.
I could not say no to the situation and I'd like to apologize to Liz as I think I even broke off a lunch date with her... :0
Kansas won the national championship that year and needless to say BC was struggling against them. So I started to focus my lens on things elsewhere besides the players. Perhaps get some candid shots of the mascots and kids or the coaches.
On what I believe was a blocking foul on BC, Al Skinner really let the reff have it. I was already holding the 70-200mm in my hands as opposed to the 24-70mm and I fired off this shot.
It has quickly become one of my personal favorites. I absolutely love the depth of field, notice the reff slightly out of focus...makes Skinner pop out at you just that much more. His emotion is so clear it can really depict how that game went as a whole.
Please leave as many comments as you want! I welcome both criticism and praise haha, as much as I want to showcase my work I'm always looking to improve.
Intro
However this will be a place dedicated to my photography. I haven't been uploading to flickr recently (I plan on changing that) but I thought this would be a great place for me to post some of my better photos and share them with you and maybe even explain a little bit about editing and capturing along the way!
I hope you enjoy, and please comment away!!
